Do I have The Wrong oil?

I was in a hurry and just grabbed what I thought was right. I got home and I have AMS oil 15w40 fore Diesel and Marine. I think they mean Marine Diesel. Will this work on a 454 Mag MPI? or should I get something different?

It will be fine. Even if it was a "diesel" oil. I know several guys that run rotella which is marketed for diesels.

I run diesel oil (rotella) in my supercharged 454s with no problems. I feel it is a better oil for marine applications if you do not have excessively high oil temp issues.

I used to run that oil in a 454 and it worked fine.

Well I ran the boat yesterday on the Mississippi River and it seem to run 10* hotter then before. Around 170*

That, if actually is the case, is no big deal. 170 is pretty average.
