Detroit's Story

Up here, we (the populace) have the exact same mentality. Instead of cars, it is Aerospace and the unions and socialist government are driving the industry out of the state.

.

I know. But people get certain views of the city itself... and there is so much more to the suburbs and the greater detroit area. But. I do not argue. The union and the government both own the failure of the city.

On the subject of Detroit.... I weep for it more than I rub my hands in glee. Detroit gave us the cars and the music that we loved, the fast boats, the backbone to win two world wars. Our country was largely built by the motor city machine. It's such a shame that such a beautiful place with so much history (do you know that the first mile of concrete ever poured for a road was poured on Woodward Ave?)

And the Fords that you love?
And on the water...
Gar Wood?

Detroit Yacht Club?
Ford Yacht Club?
Grose Ile?

Agree 100%
, that is why it is so sad.

.

Who holds the Chicago to Detroit record?
I see that Michael Reagan and Walter Payton each made attempts in the 80s.

I sure did not post this as a knock on Detroit itself but rather the failure of big government grandiosity and it's long term effects.

.
No I posted this before on S&F and OSO. The fault lies with Black Hegemony, UAW and of course the Liberal worthless POS US Government .who has since WW11 worked hard to give away to the World our resources and destroy this place.

Detroit was my favorite place to visit when I was small all the huge factories it was friggin amazing now Gone .again I stop>>>>>

Again, there is Detroit City, and then the much larger suburbs.

Home values in Bloomfield Hills went up last month... so while I agree with the blame on the hegemony, uaw and liberal worthless POS government... one also needs to think of the entire state when thinking of Detroit. The war zone images do not ring true beyond old detroit.

When you have a city Government that would tell the whites to leave the room when they met is a BIG problem from the get go, I will tell you where this can be seen in Africa which is exactly what they made it into, Mogadishu on Lake Saint Clair.

it is a shame, im too young to have seen Detroit in its prime, and the problems dont stop there, Flint-Saginaw are not in much better shape. We have a lot to offer here in Michigan if we could just change the political backdrop and attitudes here. it is a great place to live, just a hard place to be in business, thats why a lot of them are leaving.

Just curious Steve, other than what you have seen on the internet, when is the last time that you drove through Detroit?
