Destin boat dealership named the best in North America, Second Time

DESTIN — For the second year in a row, Legendary Marine has been named the best boat dealership in North America.

The Marine Retailers Association of the Americas held its 2013 Marine Dealer Conference & Expo this week in Orlando. The association and Boating Industry magazine named Legendary Marine the top dealership.

“We’ve been very, very fortunate,” said Fred Pace, managing partner at Legendary Marine. “We have a great team that really worked hard and wanted to repeat, so they did.

“We’re very humbled by the award,” he added. “It’s a great award for the team. It validates all the hard work and effort they put in and the team’s desire to be a great company and continue to work hard and provide great experiences for our customers.”

The editorial board of Boating Industry magazine voted on the award. The magazine analyzed all aspects of dealerships’ operations — sales, service, customer service scores, marketing, finance, training, employee satisfaction and others — in determining their rankings.

Pace said his staff will not rest on their laurels next year.

“We’ll work harder,” Pace said. “We think 2014 is going to be a reasonably good year. We think there are a lot of different improvements we can make in different areas, and the management team is committed to trying to raise that bar.”

Legendary Marine started in 2001 inside a single-wide trailer behind the Destin dry storage building with three employees. Since then the business has grown to 123 employees at locations in Fort Walton Beach, Panama City Beach and Gulf Shores, Ala.
