Nice pics my brother Tank......How is the overall scene for people and attitudes toward the economy????
Here's my take:
Thursday day evening street party was out of control! Unbelievable boats and some bad azz tow rigs too. "Are we supposed to be in a recession?"
Friday morning poker run was a little different. We rafted up down towards the Springs with some nice boats, out of the way on the AZ side. Watched the silver MTI blaze by with other cats soon behind. Was looking for Predator and CRC, never saw Predator (he broke) and CRC was way behind (left in second wave maybe?). Anyway, we hung there for quite a while and after all the big guns came through we didn't see much else. That's where the economy seemed to take effect. The everyday Joe's weren't there in numbers like in the past. The Channel was pretty full but not as many boats cruising up and down. Got really low key in the evenings too.
Went to the Sand Bar Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon. The place was a ghost town! Topac for lunch on Saturday and no problem getting a slip.
The Shoot Out seemed very disorganized (at least for the spectator boats). There were quite a few boats anchored up down from Thompson's so we cruised down there but then headed back up when they started placing bouys. I flagged down a Sea Tow guy and he pointed out the course for me otherwise I wouldn't have known. We watched a few boats run then got bored and headed up to Topac.
It was a pretty low key weekend with lots of relaxing. Did get to run in a bit of slop when the wind kicked up in the afternoon. Then we had fun watching guys try to dock their boats in the tight slips at London Bridge. :sifone:
We left Sunday morning so I didn't race in the POBRA race. They were supposed to start at 11:30 so I wouldn't be done and on the trailer until late afternoon and we had to get home. I heard one of the boats rolled with no injuries.
The Corvette boat was my favorite bit there were a lot of nice stuff there.
