Deadline is set for Fountain bidders

I honestly don't see how any mass produced boat mfg's are going to get dealers to floor plan anything. Those days are gone. Boat dealers are now struggling to sell Whalers , Four Winns , etc. I wouldn't touch the deal.

Also factor in that many big dollar go fast manufacturers will sell direct to the customer, cutting the dealer profit/hassle out of it. If I would have choose from buying from a dealer for more money or buying direct for less, I would take option 2......

There are many dealers paying interest on floorplan boats for over 2 years now with no sales on the horizon. So in reality their "dealer cost" on that boat is going up whereas the value is dropping since it is a new 07,08 or 09 leftover..... This theory of mounting debt sunk LCM and Fastboats.

Your are right about the mounting debt, until a few recently years ago dealers did not pay the interest monthly like an expense they just kept adding the interest onto the balance.

The repo boats from dealers and individuals are going to keep hitting the market for a long time to come.

On the plus side does anyone know how many finished boats are in the package? That could go a long ways towards paying down the total purchase price.

You're correct. I've been a Cigarette dealer and a Warlock dealer and I learned my lesson the hard way. We're about to announce our new dealer but they'll not stock any inventory. They'll be rigging all our new 41's and provide engines , etc.

Now remember your rigger is in my nnieghborhood so if you need an independent opinion of how the boats run be sure to call me! :sifone:

reported elsewhere that a canadian company "the oxford group" bought fountain... just relaying hearsay at the moment..........

Maybe fountain will pull a fast one and sell to 3 or 4 people. I know it is not possible but it sounds good I'm sure we will hear every day until the sale that someone else is buying it. That may drive the price up or scare away real bidders who only knows but I'm sure there is some advantage to it.
