I ordered sunday, got it today. Must have been humid in storage. Smells musty and has more stuck pages than a playboy in a frat house. GREAT book though! Thanks!

I have had mine sitting for 3 days now and today spent over an hour pulling page's apart in the sun and only got about 1/3 of it open. This isn't fun at all and the text is sticking to pics and other pages and vice versa. Not good sorry to say.

If you want to return the book, no problem we will give you a full refund.

These books were printed and sealed, first in plastic and then inside a cardboard shipping box...20 years ago...1989. They have been in Florida.....you remember a couple of major hurricanes and some minor ones...well they had to live through all of that too.

If everyone just opens them in a slow and patient manner....there are no problems. Once the air gets in between the pages, they start to air out and in a short time will become your favorite book to reach for.

Remember it is over 6 lbs alone and has over 600 pages, linen cover. There is no motorsport that has been ever covered as well as offshore racing is with this book. Not NASCAR, F1, Indy cars, Drags....you will have the best motorsports book out there.

In 1989, the book sold for $70.00.....you are buying at 50% off, never mind the inflation over the past 20 years.

Books came from John in Florida and the DVD's come out of RI.....I'll ck for you to make sure you and anyone else had their DVD part of the order filled.

Its a great book. Huge. I got all the pages seperated with only 2 small 1/4" tears.

A good deal at that price. I will say that $70 for it 20 years ago explains why there is a bunch left over today. I'm glad there were though, its a very cool coffee table book.

Finally somebody has put together the link here..........There are actual movies of all this stuff ......yes, we are now getting orders for the DVD's that show some of the races and the boats that John covered so well in his book.

Click on the site and you can see the many offerings that Big Seas has for so many various types of boats and eras of the offshore racing world.

www.historicraceboats.com

Once again for a free screen saver....when you first click on don't click to enter and you will get a slide show of screen savers from different eras of racing.

Damn, I should have bought the DVD too. Let me know how it is. mine was stuck together and musty, but I am not returning it. Very cool book, and a nice price.

Am I the only one who ordered a book but never got it? I was charged by paypal on April 15, but still nothing.

Top Banana, who should I contact?

I got my book within a few days and yes, my book smelled musty and had several pages stuck together. Mine came sealed in plastic and I immediately realized that it had probably been this way in storage for 20 years. Per my lovely wife`s advice, I opened the book up and sat it on a table in one of the warmer rooms in our house. I was patient and after 3 days or so, I carefully opened each page one by one. After a couple hours of looking at all of the amazing photos, I had unstuck each page.

The book is now the highlight of our main living room coffee table. All guests -- boaters and non-boaters have picked it up and looked through the pages. Everyone finds it hard to put down.

THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN SUCH A GRAND PIECE OF OFFSHORE HISTORY.

Had mine a couple of months now. Great history of our sport! and I am only to 1971.
Some of the pages have been stuck together but patience is all it take to seperate.
Like a good vintage let it Breathe.

The videos ROCKED!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the history lesson.

THANK YOU............

JOHN SAYS THAT THERE ARE JUST 9 BOOKS LEFT AT THIS REDUCED PRICE.......

NOW OR NEVER ......Remember there was just one printing in 1989.

I have seen the book on e-bay for over $500. John just needs to get rid of this lot, then the price goes back up to $70.00

Thanks again for everyone helping John out of his storage problem.

How is John doing now?

How is John doing now?

John is almost 80 years old now....he still has a great sense of humor and he is still as opiniated as ever about certain things...the President, the economy, Democrats, skinny girls.....you know everything that he comes across, he has his own take on it.

Memory is not as good short term, but he can still give you dates and places of things that happened at the 1958 Miami to Nassau race.

Not many people know that he was crew on the winning boat one year with Sam Griffith.

He has about given up trying to find a publisher for his second book and HORBA will probably end up with the manuscript...problem is no publisher believes there is really a market of interest out there for this stuff.

He appreciates the show of support from the offshroe community in helping him with these extra copies and says to give his best to everyone.
