Couple of Race Boats in the Mix at Haulover Inlet

If you look closely at most outboard race boats you'll see they get bungees wrapped around drivehousing to brackets or transom. For years that has been common practice to dampen that movement.

I was going to comment on that too, it was SOP on the 2.5s but not so with the 3.2s. Wonder why not?
 
I can only guess. One, maybe because the are shorter being 15" and not 20. Two , maybe cause they run in generally calm water, Three, there wasn't been a broken swivel shaft in a while.
I noticed a few veterans still bungee. A few class 7 boats too
 
I remember some of the vids, and talking with Peter about how much the outboards moved and I couldn't believe the boat didn't break apart.

He said the first time he was in a helicopter following one of the first 24 outboards he couldn't believe it either.
