I have done it with Ether on several occasions. Big tires and low pressure in the rocks leads to tires off the rim. I have also fixed a 5" gash in a sidewall with bailing wire and tire plugs, and used duct tape rolled up as a tire plug. Anything to get off of the trail.

I'm really surprised- mostly because I'm rarely surprised. I thought I'd seen everything at least once. Maybe not.
