Converting a Race Boat into a pleasure Boat

I have little to no real paint experience unless you count the spray can primer. So a couple buddy offered to help.. little did I know they are
skilled painters and also do tons of custom work.. They pulled out the tools and prepped the boat right and painted it.

Overall the paint job is great, my finish / prep.. not so much. 10 being perfect show boat I would say its a 6, maybe a 6.5 out of 10.
But its a race boat, not a show boat so I'm happy with the look and once it's sticker-ed up most the blems should be hidden.

Looks really sweet. What is the issue with mounting the rear seats? No place to bolt to or????

I would like a rear seat system that can be removed with a couple pins or bolts. The seats will never have anyone in them during a race and I would personally like the removed to open up the cockpit allowing more room to move if some was to happen.

Last night I started mocking up the hatch hinges and looking at options. I have the Old skater style and the same ones used on most the phantoms but with the slight radius of the roof line the lid binds
up when you flip it forward.

I could easily build a set like on the Fury boat, It is more centered so it wont lift from the curve.

They are just plastic race seats from a car. Nothing crazy, but as I said these sets will never have
people in them if this boats being run hard.

I spent the weekend fixing the rear access hatches. They are made from a lightweight
green fiber board with a skin coat of carbon fiber for looks. The Carbon fiber was lifting
in the corners so I pealed it off to find the surface was covered in glue, resin and divots.

The parts were body worked and sanded than painted with a simple matte black finish.

All the attached hardware was also removed cleaned and buffed out

Than I taped off the windows, sanded and painted the lips the same matte black for looks.

It's "Dougs" Apache.. It's BIG - and the pictures used in the forsale ad look to have been taken when it was bought as the were installing the motors; not very faltering if you ask me. I know the priced is much lower than 100k also, but I would have to check the sign when i'm at the shop next before I quote a price.

I used the wrong color primer and over sanded it.. (****). I may try and air brush in the same color in the areas i ****ed up, or just re-paint the deck this weekend.
