In Ontario you can only buy booze (with the exception of wine) from government controlled retailers and it is taxed heavily (24 coors light is 38 bucks). Not saying I agree with this actually I dont like government any more than I like mosquitos.
You technically could do the same with pot. So what if guys still home grow it? People brew beer in their basements and stuff (I sure as hell dont because I have no time).
I highly doubt most people would go to the trouble of buying all of the gear you need to grow good pot especially if you could go to a store and buy some easily and legally.
And I agree with the people who said pot smokers arent inherently dangerous. Behind the wheel is another story but I have never seen a guy smoke a joint and want to fight or cause harm to anyone except maybe themself by eating to many big macs or chocolate bars....whiskey can turn a mellow sweethearted person into a crazed violent lunatic in a matter of 5-6 shots and I have seen it happen numerous times (a couple times I was the lunatic lol)
the problem with pot is similar to the problem with guns, the people who want to control it forget or simply dont care that ultimately it isnt any more dangerous than the user. People, not things, should be held responsible for irresponsible behavior.
