Colonoscopy

The apprehension of the test is alot worse than the actual procedure. :

I had to have a lumbar punch in the hospital earier this year. If that wasn't bad enough, they had the paperwork wrong, so I got to worry about it twice! In retrospect, I've had haircuts that hurt worse. :26:

Last nite I had planned to cancel. After all the SOS comments I am going to do it.You guys are right,it's a no brainer. Thanks for the wake up call,SOS.:)

HEY guy have it done and i speak with experience because i had Diverticulits and my large intestine exploded before i had the test which resulted in a stay in the hospital almost a month and the end results were i almost died , they had to remove a foot of my large intestine , and i ended up with a Colostomy and had to wear a ostomy bag for over a year until the damaged area of my intestine was healed and then the next step is called a colostomy take down which is were they hook you back up to city water & sewer so to speak so you can have a normal bowel movements again and not have to use an ostomy bag . I also would like to mention that i have had 4 Hernia operations due to this surgey and with out a doubt go have the test .

I've had two hernia operations, and I've had another hernia for about 15 years. I think I genetically predisposed to have a hernia. My dad had a double hernia in the Navy at Gitmo.

good decision, it's really not that bad, when I left the hospital after having mine, my friend and I went out to lunch, then shopped at Costco and in the evening I had a small dinner party, but I am a woman and we all know women handle these type of things better:biggrinjester:

Pull'n the estrogen factor on us, A!!!!!!!!!:lurk5:

Talked to the nurse today, she said they are using a different prep.Miralax with 64 oz of Gatorade,Supposedly tasteless and eliminates the terrible tasting stuff everyone fusses about. We will see:)

works better if you add a bottle of warm Boones Farm Wonderful Watermelon,...then you can have projectile elimination at both ends......

They used the mesh to fix me the last time. The problem is my abdomen is thin. :(

I had dbl hernia surgery 2 years ago. No question the worst pain I've ever felt. They used the mesh. Seems to working fine. I did get cabin fever after a week of resting though and went out and blew it out one night and wound up taking this vietnamese chick home. BAD IDEA. Back to rest for a week after that.

I guess I'm getting close to one of these exams. They say 40 is the age huh?

Every time I hear this procedure mentioned, all I can think of is the beginning of an Office episode where Michael (the Boss) calls Oscar (the gay) into the office. He asks Oscar if there is any way possible to make it make bearable, or even pleasurable for himself and/or the doctor. Some funny $hit!! (no pun intended there)

Co-worker had one last month and the sedative wore off near mid point. He described discomfort to say the least. He was NOT happy. May ask them to insure you are out for the entire procedure.

Good Luck!

That's very true that's the prep Ian had and it seemed like nothing compared to all the stuff I had to drink.

Miralax is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier on you than CitroMag.

One cleans you out. The other assures that you will be cleaning the bathroom. :)

Seriously, my family has colon cancer in its history. My dad near died from it because he resisted being checked for so long. I just had my 3rd one done this spring. Doc found a few nastys and lopped em off. Better to have a simple thing done now than end up with a bag or worse, in a box.

Define scary. Walk in to the gastro's office. He reaches out to shake your hand and the guy is the size of Lurch with mitts to match.
Thats SACRY!

I remember on my second one, I could push from the side of my groin, down into the nutsack!

:confused:OMG does this sound like the Saturday night conversation at the Easy Rest Old Folks Home during the pinnocle game.:blush5: I think a new thread may be in order. Who has the worse/grossest operation or condition. Lets hear them.:leaving:
