Cigar people, what would you smoke?

I have a good friend that always has a cigar in his mouth,but he never lights it,just chews it.Says he doesn't want to offend anyone with smoke. Guess maybe like chewing tobacco? He's fairly wealthy,buys good ones. Never quite understood it,but he seems to really enjoy them.
