Hey all...Glad to see that this thread has generated a good bit of interest for our run. Sorry for the last minute announcement but sometimes these things just come together like that. We are planning a great event this year and hope to double what we had last year.
We created this run last year as a Poker/Fun run with the intent on allowing all types of power boats to participate. The emphasis this year will again be on having a fun day of boating on the Chesapeake Bay with plenty of time to socialize. The routes are designed so that a cruiser or slower center consoles can skip some of the drive through stops but not miss the full stops. We try and limit planned activities do that participants don’t feel rushed and are able to mingle with other participants.
The distances for the run are as follows:
Start From Cambridge and Return
Cambridge Hyatt to Oxford 14.0
Schooner's Landing to Skippers Pier 29.0
Skippers Pier to Chesapeake Beach 8.2
Chesapeake beach to Lowe's Wharf 13.8
Lowe's Wharf to Harrisons 7.0
Harrisons to Cambridge Hyatt 19.4
Total Miles 91.4
Start From Turkey Point Returning to Hyatt
Turkey Point to Turn 1 7.9
Turn 1 to Skippers 18.8
Skippers Pier to Chesapeake Beach 8.2
Chesapeake beach to Lowe's Wharf 13.8
Lowe's Wharf to Harrisons 7.0
Harrisons to Cambridge Hyatt 19.4
Total Miles 75.1
Start from Turkey Point Returning to Turkey Point
Turkey Point to Turn 1 7.9
Turn 1 to Skippers 18.8
Skippers Pier to Chesapeake Beach 8.2
Chesapeake beach to Lowe's Wharf 13.8
Lowe's Wharf to Harrisons 7.0
Harrisons to Turkey Point Marina 20.4
Total Miles 76.1
A complete detailed course map will be provided in the registration packet.
We are planning a radar run on the way back to the Hyatt as well. This will be a closest to your speed contest and not a speed contest. Those that choose to enter the radar run (sign-ups will be at the last stop for $25) will guess what their top speed will be over a 1 mile course and the closest to their guess will win. We did this last year and it was very popular.
If you are planning on staying the night at one of the local hotels we have two blocks of rooms set up but they will expire on 9/4 so get your entry in ASAP. If you have any questions feel free to send me an email smitty1035@comcast.net or PM Smitty1035.
