Cat Insurance - Enough is Enough!

that's not the point... point is --- there needs to be a more defined 'criteria' let's say for the quoting of said rates. that's all....

ps: no tickets/wrecks/claims etc.... good question.

cheers,

joe

yes... and i'm blaming it on bruce (whether it sticks or not!!! LOL). He was the last one out in it and i 'thought' he was only running a couple laps :-)

regardless... yes. the boat was running fabulous, and i was considering putting it to the wood, but had more than two people in the boat, so was struggling mentally w/ doing what I new best vs. what i wanted to do.... we were at appx. 80% throttle when i noticed the port tack jump, just a bit. i backed off and then saw it jump again, so i shut her down, raised the hatch etc... and then --- the rest is history.... out of fuel in the port motor. limped in on the stbd.

---- but, that's exactly what i'm talking about..... not tooting my own horn, but, how many people actually watch 'everything' that's going on in a boat --- esp. running those speeds --- and why should i be 'penalized' with an equal premium to someone who's previously thrown someone out of a boat, or someone who has twice the hp and boats in rougher water????

joe

ps: let the jokes begin.... :-)

no issues with the boat. the guy interested in buying it had the incidents, not me WTF... how do i wind up with the same premium w/ a perfect record, excellent credit and an award winning personality!!!! LOL....

that's not the point, Dudley!!!!!!! :-)

How much are the quotes coming in for your boat? I am Stephen R. Jones (not Dudley???). Did you find a better rate elsewhere? Who has the best rate? I too am, a price conscious guy when it comes to insurance.

have received TONS more knowledge from JT than one could imagine getting from Tres and/or Brad (not that either of them are bad--- but rather, thank goodness there is someone out there, are of their quality (multi-time world and nat'l champs) that has chosen to make the time for 'the majority').
Spending time with JT does not mean a thing from an underwriter’s perspective! Tres has the only accredited program, I said that before and had my quote deleted! What a site, stir up the crap and delete the responses you don’t like! Take the class and reduce your rates!

No jokes, happens to the best. One of the guys in your boat said it was the best ride he has ever taken and the smoothest. He said the boat and driving was outstanding.

In the 2 years that I have had Stacy and EIB insuring my boat the premium has gone down both years, plus the 10% discount from taking Tres course.

I dare not make any comments about the 'free market' and the insurance industry's monopoly or oligopoly control over pricing. but it will take much more than upset Cat owners to get any major change without a large entity like the government or a co-op from effecting change.

I also empathize with your plight, but until all US consumers focus on issues like this, nothing will change.

Nope.... but, i can guarantee you... if we had pics of the EP clan they would have at least honored their word in, 'no claims for the annual period and your premium will decrease next year.'

fyi... i never would have started the post, but their response of basically saying.... sorry, joe --- you did your part (of no claims/incidents etc..) but we 'don't remember' saying anything about lowering your premium the following season.

if they'd have at least been forthright and said something to the effect of, 'sorry, joe, we acknowledge what we said, and that you didn't have any claims, but, with the market turning as bad as it did .... <fill in the rest>.... we are stuck, and can not reduce your premium.'

instead, i got, 'do you have it in writing' and... 'we don't remember saying that. bottom line.... there was a rumbling today that i shouldn't have started this post --- bottom line --- i'm always up for a negotiation. however, EP's last correspondence made it quite clear that there was nothing to discuss.

so, i guess we're all talking about it now.

joe

ps: on top of that... i knew i wouldn't be using the skater from the tampa run (march, i believe) til last week -- as i as using my new fish boat (which they also insure) instead. i considered calling and asking to change to a lay-up policy for that period, giving me a considerable cost reduction, but, since i thought, as 'they' said, 'we were friends' i left it alone --- knowing every dollar would most likely help in this economy, and i thought i'd do my part. but... whatever!

Joe,

I heard the same promises from my agent who sold my my Cat policy. It's going to be $x this year but will get it lowered next year....never happened... Which by-the-way is from American Reliable and not Markel, either way they both have you over a barrel unless your foolish enough to run without insurance...

I'm not saying I'm extremely happy about the situation but it doesn't look like there's much anyone can do about it...

Jim
