Cash for clunkers!

I think he meant that it was part of your "income" to pay tax on. But, not positive that's what he meant.

The money was used like a manufacturer rebate therefore the money is taxed at the time of sale. What I mean is, the dealer has to charge the customer tax and in return we (the dealer) pay the government for the tax. If the tax wasn't collected the dealers claim will rejected. Anyone that has EVER gotten a "Rebate" uncle Sam gets his cut. I dont care who offered the rebate (Toyota, Dodge, GM, or FORD) Rebates are always taxed. This has never changed.

$4500 for a car worth a $100??? Sounds like income to me. Positive? Like hitting a small lottery. $315 bucks small price to pay.

Great if you were able to take advantage of the program. If not.......Not my idea. I voted for the other guy. We all pay now or later.

Just trying to state some facts, not trying to get political. Dont forget....Bizz out 160x $4000.. Not making my life easy right now. Thanks

We are still waiting for our dough to. We did about 120 off this deal

I heard something today and almost puked...... I dont know if this has any truth, but i heard if the customer has a unpaid tax lein they cant get the rebate........oh yeah thats right, they already got it because the dealer had to give it to them. I really hope this isnt true. We were never told to check for this. Thats part of some payment delays.

2 more paid since last post.

As in the buyer has a past due tax bill? That would really suck for the dealers.....

All that huh. Should have it all at this rate by Christmas...

Next year......:ack2:

Yeah....... this hasnt happened to me.....but this could be a major blow to the dealers. I hope this isnt the case.

Interesting.
So now tell me if I get this right...
The Gov't came up with a program that you didn't have to participate in as a dealer, but, if you didn't you would be crushed by competition.
The Gov't will then compensate you for your participation in the program on behalf of the beneficiary party.
If the beneficiary party is deemed not eligible for the program (outstanding taxes) by the Gov't, the dealer is now left to hold the balance.
Sounds like not only the Gov't now owns an Auto Manufacture, they are now also requiring the Auto Dealers to work as an arm of the IRS.

This is so typical of Gov't today.
I was out of work for four months, I got behind in child support.
I got a letter from the state that told me my drivers license was going to be suspended.
Now, how does this make sense??
I have no income, and the Gov't is going to make it more difficult for me to get to and from work - when I was able to find work in this chit-ball economy.
Where is the logic?

It doesn't. It is an example of how they will leverage anything that we allow them control over. You give them a handle.... they will use it whether it is logical or not. Remember.... power doesn't have to employ reason. They have power. They would have to choose reason, and it is contrary to their goal, which is pandering to people who fear deadbeat dads.

Legislative Priority Chart:

1) get re-elected
2) don't do things that will jeopardize number 1.
3) read number one.
4) vote occasionally... but do so according to number 2.
5) raise money for number 1.

We stopped taking those deals a few days before the program ended...

I told one guy that we weren't doing CFC deals.

Sold him a car at sticker.

And I'm buying his clunker Explorer sport 4x4 for $300.

I'm gonna get it detailed, airbrush the bumpers and flip it for $1500.

That's what I call a stimulus package.

Hey Anthony, let us know how that turns out. I'm curious to see what stance the gov't takes on it.

Didn't you just move? Go get a new license in the new state and it will take a few more months for the "system" to catch up with you. Hopefully by then you will be back on the job.....

The problem is now that this is over sales will fall very very flat and because of that they will put it back into operation is my guess.

I got two GM stores that if we had more product to sell we could have done better with th program. Damn shame.

Sorry thought you had Toyota Lexus.Question the lease is up on my wifes Escalade in March are they dealing on the payoffs to buy or should I just get her something else.Leasing is gone so will probably buy next one either another Escalade or Denali.

I am employed now for the past month. CS hasn't caught up with me yet, but they soon will - which is fine, I'm not trying to dodge it or avoid payment.
But, by having a few paychecks with no CS coming out is helping me put some money back in the bank that I needed to use while out of work.
Already got the DL in the new state.
Any money that I'm behind in CS will just be taken out of my tax return to get it back even.

Sorry for the hi-jack.
