Bravo wear pads

What cement/adhesive is used or recommended on these wear pads Part # 805261. I installed them on my old Bravos years ago and have to replace one and I dont remember what I used if anything to help hold them on.

You don't need anything - they "snap" in place.

yeah, thats pretty much what I remember and they do snap in but I swear I also epoxied them in place when they first came out in the early 90's

I think he is talking about the pins on the horizontal axis. Like #4. There are bushings in the gimble ring where the pins ride. Early pins were threaded in and were notorious for working loose.

I know Ken has put some effort, time and $ into improving the weak links in the Gimbal assembly. I hope he can expound on those for us. I have been privy to some pictures and I am impressed by the effort. Oh yeah, they have nice boats too. :USA:

They snap on the driveshaft housing and make contact with the gimbal ring..
The driveshaft housing is sometimes "braced" between the 2 "ears" that contact these pads...

Yea, the early drives didnt have the provision for the wear pads and prop torque would wear one side of the housing real bad. I use my trusty hack saw, files and drills to modify old cases for the wear pads. Im sure I used epoxy to help hold them on and will again. Pins and bushings are fine. Thanks for the heads up, they get checked every year.

Yes, that bushing is actually in the bellhousing {helmet} with the HD pins. The standard pins move in the gimble ring and and that is where the bushing is.

Michael. You can do a general inspect of the pivots on the trailer. Grab the skeg and attempt to move side to side and check for movement. You can also lift the cav plate and inspect for worn vertical pivots.
