Bobthebuilder's next adventure - Key West to Havana, Cuba

1) Joe Quinn, Toronto; Paul Huck, Kitchener; James Glover, London & Big Daddy LOL

2) Leaving Key West harbor - 2 miles out I am running still thru a mental checklist and realize I forgot my passport and money in the hotel safe. Had to return and start over.

3) the sea half way there. Less than 2 ft. Sometimes it would change a bit. Wish I had those conditions for going to Turks and Caicos / BVI !!

1 ) Havana coming into view about 15 miles out or so.

2 ) Our CG escort. Note rifle slung over guys shoulder in front of console. They were all quite young.

3) Coming into Marina Hemingway

1) Main dining room at The National where we are staying. It's like a museum with all the old pics of famous people that have stayed there.

2 & 3 ) An outdoor restaurant that we ate at on evening of arrival. I will get name and post. Very nice and excellent food. James' Tuna came w live goldfish !! :

On the other site Bob said they were leaving late this morning to head back so I would guess he probably has Key West in his sights by now........

JS. We leave for KW / Marco tomorrow - Sunday. If I said today it was in error. I will check. Plan was always to return Sunday. Taxi picking us up at hotel at 9:30 am, Marina by 10, negotiations with officials over departure fees ( LOL ) done by 10:30 am and on our way. Hoping to make KW by 1 PM , clear customs, lunch, cross to Marco by 5 PM. We will see.

Chatted with a local after lunch today and he says there are 2,000,000 people in Havana. 1,000,000 civilians and 1,000,000 police !! We have seen lots of police but no way 50 / 50. None have bothered us. Bit more on that when home.

Pic 2 is Olga asking if she can ride down to Key West for race week with me in Team PREDATOR in November and pic 1 is her disbelief when I tell her the boat was full and I had no room. ( In my dreams ) LOL:0

It is estimated that there will be over 600,000 people at tomorrows concert. People can't believe we are not staying for it. We visited the plaza today where they were setting up. All hard surface and 91 degrees under the sun. Starts at 2 PM for 4 hrs with a number of entertainers. The wholw city is in a buzz about it. It's free. I'm hot thinking about it.

Awesome thread....safe trip back. Cuba is a nice place, someday it will open up legally for us USA citizens.
