DECATUR, Ill. — The roar of engines and the thrill of high-speed competition will once again echo across Lake Decatur this summer, as Hardy's Race for the Lake makes its highly anticipated return.

Power boats make their way into Lake Decatur for Hardy's Race for the Lake 2024.
Organizers promise an even better event, building on last year’s successful comeback.
"People in the community were so excited, and even people who have never been to the boat races said, 'Oh my gosh, I hope it comes back', so we are very proud and excited," said Teri Hammel Executive Director of the Decatur Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The hard work and dedication poured into the 2024 event didn’t go unnoticed. Over the winter, the APBA awarded Lake Decatur as the 2024 sit of the year.
Hammel said they are looking for more sponsors for the event. For organizations and businesses interested they can reach out to the DACVB.
Hardy’s Race for the Lake kicks off June 7 and 8.
