SVL was interesting to say the least. You've probably checked out the Octane thread, so I won't rehash that stuff.
In the Kilo runs, Pirate barely beat Bucanneer Pawn. In the race, interesting between those two boats....
In the first heat, Bucanneer Pawn jumped out to a big lead. They thought they had the win in a runaway. Wil said the boat was running great, 93 to 94 mph, then the boat went into Guardian mode. He made a move to go to the inside and get out of the way. On the radio, we hear Randy chatting about where the heck are you guys going? Lost????
Anyway, over the two heats Larry had to turn the boat off and back on to reset from Guardian Mode about 95 times or something like that. They still won the first heat with their big jump at the start, and Pirate could close, but not get by.
In the second heat, with the same problem. Pirate ran away with the win.
Between heats, acording to the morning drivers meeting, there would be about 10 minutes of mill time. So, Randy brings an extra prop with him. We stop, Randy climbs out, he has a prop in a towel and a prop wrench. We're watching, and listening on the radio. After about two minutes, race control says time to go. Well, the pace boat says Typhoon has a man out of the boat on the drive. They're all wondering what's going on. Travis, in Pirate, comes on and says, "You can't stop to take a leak in a race"....
Anyway, race control says go, so Randy has to tighten down the prop that was still on there and ran the same as the first heat.....
Oh well, best laid plans and all that.....
