Best of....2009

For the most part 2009 was Year 1 for the SOS family.

As I think back I think of various peoples efforts whether it be as businesses or race teams or individuals that have made a difference to this site.

So I made up my own classifications and give credit to the following people for their impact on me as a family member.

Please jump in and add your own.

MOST PROLIFIC ADVENTURER

To the member that went out of his way in telling us the stories of his travels and sharing his personal love for boating. BOBTHEBUILDER

MOST AGGRESSIVE MARKETING CAMPAIGN

Giving credit and kudos for the group that has put in so much effort in exposing their product to all of the powerboaters out there. A team effort that includes the owners and all their staff that have travelled everywhere to show off their high tech beauty. TEAM STATEMENT

GONE RACING

To the individual that put the effort in to experience the dream of boat racing, who got out from behind the keyboard experienced the dunk tank and went racing for the first time..and most importantly, told us all about the adventure. A special mention to his dearly beloved for doing it with him.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rose RATICKLE

BEST REBUILD THREAD

Thank you for sharing the day to day details of a complete rebuild of your dreamboat. The pictures and words as you went through each step was great.
A great thread. GLH

BIGGEST SAVE

To the person that went from hero to zero in these hugely difficult times and pulled " whatever" out of the fire. I acknowledge there are huge losers in this story but the man lived up to his tenacious fighting win at all costs reputation. MR. R. FOUNTAIN

SHOWCASING OUR SPORT

They are everywhere..they are everywhere. There arent words to describe their commitment to putting this sport in the face of the public and to entertaining us all. For waving the flag. ALL THE BOYS AT TEAM GEICO

FUN ON THE DOCK

For including our members in a fun topic. For drawing us together to laugh at ourselves and one another. To making this family a happy bonded family.
For PAINT JOBS GONE BAD . Still laughing! BOBCAT

LARGEST CONTRIBUTION TO SERIOUSOFFSHORE.COM

Cant say enough thanks to our guys that bring us our sport in action every weekend. Thank you for the hundreds of thousands of images you bring us , the tremendous hours of time and effort to perfect your art before it gets to us. For driving the long distances and finding the "diamond shot" to share with all our members. THE SOS TEAM OF GREAT PHOTOGRAPHERS

VOLUNTEERS OF THE YEAR

This place doesnt work but for the effort of a loyal group of hard working people that do it all " For The Love Of The Sport"
THE BOARDMEMBERS OF SERIOUS OFFSHORE.COM

THE MAN

For making it happen........period

MR. CHRIS SUNKIN

Thats my quick list for 2009.

Please add.

There are alot of people that have given of themselves to be a part of this place, through time and hard work - that wasn't work, but instead dedication, people donating time and fuel to take out kids on a charity event, making the phone calls and contacts to make it all happen...
Even people that have financially contributed large amounts to grow this little place.
I don't think there are any individuals that did it (aside from a handful that made it possible) but, some, certainly stand out as some real charactes around here.
Thanks to everone for being a part of the party.

Seriousoffshore's Citizen of the Year and the Biggest proponent of serious beyond doubt ( just ask the management ) Catastrophe.

Hel l of a 1st year as an active forum member pal.

Just a sample of what "old Uncle Alec" has been up to:

Alec is one of two "patrons" of seriousoffshore.

He had Serious jackets and shirts galore made up. He gave them away and asked for nothing in return.

He, along with 3 other serious management team members took nearly 100 disabled children and their families for rides on his boat at the Make a wish run in Florida this fall. A wonderful, selfless gesture that just happened to shine a very complimentary spotlight on Serious

His incredible drive to assist every charity that comes to our board for help.
Just ask any member who has posted about a charity poker run or fun run or whatever good cause fund raising effort they are involved with.

His tireless efforts in Key west this year were above and beyond. From working with the staff at Guy Harvey's to arranging our first official Serious board meeting ( maybe 11 am the day AFTER the day AFTER the Serious party would be better next time Bud) :)
Meetings with other organizations and publications to benefit Serious and the membership thereof. Supplying the Official "Seriousoffshore" Canadian division boat, his incredible offshore battletank, the 44 NorTech CC complete with his outstanding hospitality to all who had the pleasure of riding along.

Behind the scenes, Alec is a constant stream of thoughts on building and bettering serious for the members in every way. A natural born visionary marketer if you will :)
and oft times, the voice of reason when the rest of us( management) get off track.

I could go on and on but he will no doubt, in his typical modest way be embarrassed by the spot light I put on him.

I just thought you, the members of Serious should know who's pullin for ya :)

PS, I almost forgot. he does an amazing "Flaming Hoop" dance ;)

Whatever happened to the idea of having a MEMORIAL / TRIBUTE SECTION as I have created on Sharkey-Images.com ? http://sharkey-images.com/tributes.html Prior to me being removed from the BOARD ROOM it was suggested. Myself and Marc Blondin were going to be the Mods.

Alec has a heart of gold. He is always thinking of a way to help someone, then, more importantly, acting on it. After me, he's one of the nicest guys around.
