Best Cat design Mike Peters?

There is a hell of a difference between 'tweaking' a design to get a mile or two an hour, and inventing a whole new vehicle. Original cat guys, Ron Jones, James Beard, Mike Peters, Peter Hledin, George Linder, Rich Luhrs, etc., had more failures than successes. When Beard and Curtis hired me as prez of Cougar, USA, they brought over a bunch of extremely fast, delicate wooden cats which broke up on race courses all over the country, to the point that the Coast Guard was going to fine me for littering. The good news was that we never made two the same. Every one was faster and stronger that the last. Thanks to the bravery of our customers, we were able perfect a new vehicle. Nobody in the boat business is smarter (or nicer) than John Cosker. John has 'gone his own way' in design and construction. Most all the cars and airplanes look alike. There is a good reason for that. Don't expect a 300 mph cat any time soon............
Brownie you are so very right because i worked on one of the last boats that was made for K R raceing by Cougar , which was called Spirt of Norway and talk about .........delicate...............WOW . I have to say that every design does not turn out the way it should be on paper , for instance , when i was employed at Skater , i had to flip every 46 and put an extra set of pad's on the last two step's of every boat.

Once again, Mystics aren't MP boats.

He has a following in Class 1, his boats also fly backwards in Class 1 alot as well. That being said MTI won 2 races there this year against a whole fleet of MP boats.

No MP boat is competive in the US right now.

didn't know there was any racing in the US to be competive???

I thought I rememebered Pepe saying that Peters had something to do with the twin step bottom on the 35' Pantera race boat. Anyone confirm that?

I believe that John Cosker did the bottom tweaking design for Pantera

Is there any truth that the Doug Wright bottoms are similar to victory's design? A little birdy told me that in KW this year

two sponsons and a tunnel? sure... other than that, no. DW's are kinda unique all unto themselves.

I wouldn't go that far.

Doug scaled down the 36' Skater that Whitter owned and made his 32'. The outboard boats are much shallower in free board as they are outboard boats. Doug also was putting the cockpit further forward than the others which I think he is changing also.

I don't know the boats like you guy's but I love the mystic. I'm sure you guy's have seen the You Tube 211 run in the Mystic, that video could make anyone want one. One word is incredible I want one but the wife said not this year:rofl:

If anything forget the rest and get the best SKATER ALL THE WAY :26::26::26:

DW is still tweaking his bottom, the new boats with new bottoms have picked up quite a bit of speed. Is Doug going to move the cockpit back?
