Not 100% sure, but I think if you check out Season 1 of "Miami Vice", you'll see a Bandit (P-84) racing to Bimini and back in the episode "The Great McCarthy". Actually a lot of cool old boats racing in that episode. :)

This was my favorite Image cat Motor City Magic, we had some great runs against Larry & John in the M-7 Bandit.

Chris, this is not the Bandit but how about it's sister cat Motor City Magic. With you on the engine hatch at that 1986 Ohio race.

Mark,

That is a classic! Thank you very much for posting that pic. I even have on a LSCORA shirt! I really enjoyed those years going to races every weekend and hanging out with the big dogs.

You have got some sweet old pics. I'd love to see more sometime.

Thanks Again.

A few more pic's of the Magic back in 1986. Back then Mercruiser modified engines were making around 520hp, our Diamond Racing Magic engines were making about 570hp. We even made our own headers. Bob Kehrig was a great guy to work with, and he didnt mind getting his hand dirty. To stay on budget we made most of our parts, we even made our own stand off box for the speed III drives. But in the 86 Key West worlds race 3 we hit some nasty water going out to Sand Key and blew the side out and sank her. Over the winter we fixed her and raced the 1987 season.
Bob sold her in 1988 and she became Bad To The Bone. They put beeks on her and raced open class. We saw her again at the 1991 Key West worlds, Pete Hidalgo bought her and called her the Ray Ban American Dream, racing her in open class. Key West would not be a good race for Hidalgo, going out to Sand Key they stuffed her killing Peachy the driver. We saw her one more time in a boat yard in the Keys rotting away, today ????????
