GALESBURG, MI -- A crash that has shut down traffic in both directions on I-94 in eastern Kalamazoo County involves a truck hauling fireworks, police say.
Lt. Dale Hinz with Michigan State Police said he was informed that the crash is fatal although he hasn't been to the scene to confirm that information. Multiple semi trucks and vehicles are involved and Hinz said motorists should avoid the area "at all costs."
The truck hauling fireworks is on fire, and explosions can be heard every few seconds as fireworks go off, according to a Kalamazoo Gazette reporter on scene.
Traffic is shut down at mile marker 85, Hinz said. Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office is handling traffic, while MSP is investigating the crash.
