Well, getting ready to see what the waves bring. Here are a few shots from yesterday. Some good size waves out there. Talking with some of the guys, got a few comments like:

Gonna be hard for the open boat guys to stay in their boats....


And, Had a least 4 seconds of air when we didn't expect it...

I think think this event is being expertly covered by sharkey marine ? or something like that . He does OSO Not SOS for whatever reason .

That is correct, seas in inlet to rough for coast guard to handle boats with issues

Well, yes it was cancelled.

Smitty and gang had no option as far as I could tell. Basically the Coast Guard told them the race could go on, but they would not assist boats in trouble in the surf if that happened.

The surf was big, and if a boat happened to go over, there would have been a majot problem if the team didn't have a shovel to dig themselves out of the sand.

I guess the course was also out of the permitted area due to the changing due to the conditions within a mile or so of the hore.
