I've got just about 80 hours on these engines (a new record!):sifone: They have Lunati (Morel makes them, I believe) lifters and seem to be holding together just fine.....and they idle without having to mess with the throttles at all. 1000 in neutral and 700 in gear. I couldn't be happier!!!
Here's a link to some new stuff that Lunati has out, but I don't think that this is what I have. The link says that they are good to the mid-7000 rpm range. That's pretty impressive! Maybe Dave will chime in...
Cool, thanks for the link. I'll check it out some more! My buddy spins his hyd. setup to 6k as well and it makes me cringe but it's been holding together. He runs them at zero lash instead of the regular 1/2-3/4 turn. But then again, his lifters also tap at start-up sometimes.
I don't believe the limitation was pump-up but more about the added weight of a hydralic roller that limited the rpm range. Builders had to compensate by adding spring pressure to control the heavy valvetrain but when they did that they couldn't keep the lifters pumped at high and low rpms so maybe they solved it with these. Would be interesting to find out if you can run them on a solid roller profile cam. I've seen people run solids on hyd. profile cams so now I'm curious!
80 hrs, that's only one season for me bro! I idle about the same. Morel makes some great stuff, I have em in my engines too!
No he keeps the boat at Londontowne Marina in Edgewater.... I believe you are talking about Jeff's Cafe that you can see on Weems Creek off to the right from the Rowe Blvd. Bridge??
