I've been stuck with satellite Internet since we moved into the new place back in March through Wildblue. My contract is through DishNetwork which is my TV provider.
The TV service is pretty good, free lifetime HD:sifone:
The I-net service SUCKS!!!!
Extremely slow (best dl speed I've had is like 1.6mbps) and, if I use "too much" internet for the previous 30 days (dl's, uploads) they drop my speed to 0.02 mbps:banghead::banghead:
At the time we moved in, I didn't know Mediacom was an option (didn't know it existed to be honest).
Talked to DISH, and they are letting me out of the Wildblue contract free (would have been like $240) as long as I keep TV service.
Additionally, Mediacom will re-imburse up to $300 for me to terminate a service with another provider to make the switch if they charged me to break a contract.
I'm treating this as an insurance policy to be sure I'm not paying. I'm sure there is some way I could manipulate this and find myself $300 ahead, but those of you that have known me for yrs, well, you know that I'm not the kind of guy that would do that. I'm willing to pay up and not try to work angles and loopholes.
So, This seems like a no-brainer to me, so I called Mediacom back and said "hook me up". They'll be out within the next week.
They claim a mbps of ~12.0.
So, anyone have any experience w/ them??
No matter what, it's GOT to be better than what I currently have.
