Any matte finished boats out there?

I wouldnt think that you would want to have any of the hull painted like this that gets submerged.. Cleaning it without ruining the paint would be a *****

I see a lot of boats with matte finish. As stated above, 5 years in the FL sun with no wax will get you that for free. :D

I like the look on trucks; I'm not sure I would go for the matter look on a boat. I just like my boats glossy.

:)

The cost of painting a boat with a matte finish should be virtually HALF of a regular paintjob, right? Being that you would only have to paint it with a two step process. Id love to have something done to mine similar to the helmet...

No, actually being that it is "custom" and "marine" I believe you'd be charged double if not more...:sifone:

We Did this 50 Cig. with a Flat finnish and gloss on the Graphics.(customer requested)
the problem is if you ever scratch it you can not re clear and buff out you blends like with gloss clear. I would not recomend it on a large area, but small areas that can be
re cleared with no blends is cool. PPG has the clear its called (flexed "n" flat DCU 2060)

The Cig 44 kilo boat was redone in flat- but it's vinyl graphics. We couldn't tell until we were arm's length away.

Imron is available with a flattening agent that works really well. But it takes so long to set up there's no way to keep ust out of it. I tried doing a flat Imron paint job by spraying the paint and then knocking the gloss off. I tried crushed walnut, glass bead and AlOx at low PSI. There was no way to get a consistency over a large, flat area. Finally we did it by blocking it with sandpaper- it had a grain but it looked good- and it was repairable. I even tried a heavy dark base with a light topcote and then scored thru the top with 120 paper, then finished with 240. It was alot of work but it gave it a brushed metal look. No way I'd want to do a 50 Cig like that.

I touched it. It's vinyl. Me 'n Tommy Gun stood there for a long time looking at it. You can see the clear vinyl at the bottom right before the hard chine- there's a very square ridge about .005" thick. And the stripe down the center with the red accents are all in different layers. The deck is painted though.

Porsche Gemballa Mirage GT Matte Black...Chicks would dig me if I had one of these:sifone:

I would consider "pimp of the nation" a matte finish.
Now that is a badazz boat.
One day, one day...:sifone:

the boat was matte finish last season before two bottles of leverage compound.. but it wasn't even, lol..

I got the helmet from www.locomx.com.. its not a high end lid but it sure feels like one..

i know its not an offshore boat but it is flat/satin black.
