Any 525's with NXT drives vs. bravo?

i think you can only get the nxt with the 700...... someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You can get them with the 525 EFI's but Merc Racing site is confusing:

From 525 page:

Engine drive packages include Bravo One XR, Bravo One XR Sport Master, Bravo Three XR and dry-sump Six drive. The optional Integrated Transom System (ITS) provides hydraulic steering on the drive while making the transom more aesthetically pleasing and simplifying installation.

From NXT page:

Suitable for:
HP525 EFI
HP600 SCi
EU662 SCi
HP700 SCi

and then the warranty page:

Consumer performance outboards and sterndrives, with the exception of the 525 EFI NXT, 600 SCi NXT¹® 662 SCi, 700 SCi, 850 SCi, 1075 SCi and 1200 SCi engine packages are backed by Mercury's 3-year limited corrosion warranty.

Merc has a new "cambered" skeg NXT for single engine boats with the 525 and up. It's mounted at an angle so the boat will run straight when the wheel is centered.

What is the difference in performance? I know they dont make the NXT with the 525 yet but how does the 525 run with a #6 drive vs a bravo?

I don't have any figures to back this up but I don't feel the NXT tranny would soak up 30-40hp. A 72 Series trans, yes. The NXT tranny I'd venture to guess is only 15-20hp.

BTW, I'm trying to locate 3 complete NXT packages if anyone has some scoop.

only because the nxt has a tranny would it be slightly slower, weight and drive efficency on the tranny accounts for 30-40hp.

The NXT tranny is a cone clutch setup, much like a bravo,
the drive is a dry sump, and with the ability to run SSM props
I'm betting it runs better than a bravo boat.

Yeah the pic was taken from the side which didn't show the camber. I wonder why they didn't take it from behind the drive so we could see what it looks like.

actually the cambered feature is very subtle and probably would not be visable to well in a photo. its a flaired section at the trailing edge of the skeg.

The Lavey SVL boat was running a 525 with the NXT drive....initially I think the prop choices were limited but they got it worked out...I have heard that the 525w/NXT from Merc was more $ than the 700 package...doesn't make sense
