Trying SO DAMN HARD to find something to criticize.

What's wrong with Gupta? Just because he got a better offer and changed his freakin mind? Quick, name the current surgeon general. jeez.

If you wanna talk about sh!tty appointments, I got two words for ya: ALBERTO GONZALEZ.

This guy "O" has tapped to be the next Surgeon General walked out on a signed contract to go to a rural community in Michigan in desperate need of a neurosurgeon when CNN offered him the job of health correspondent. Another "savior" ...QUOTE]

Jay, I think all Chris points out is a lack of integrity! He said he feels the guy is qualified! If it is as I understand, he lied, he re-nig'd if he signed a contract & did not honor it!!!!!! What will he do in another place & X????????????????? I don't know Chit about any of these people, absolutely FK'n noth'n! But I do know my word or my signed intentions. We all have the ability 2 change our minds, but what about B'n straight up when U have apparently signed a contract & follow thru! We all have done things we wish we could take back or change! But Integrity & honesty I hope keeps most of us 2 our word!!!

First and foremost, it's about INTEGRITY, COMMITMENT, and HONOR ... three qualities lacking in this country today. He backed out on a contract to serve people in need. The search had been in the works for a year or more, and it was a couple more years before they found a replacement.

Additionally, it's about choosing someone who is QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB.

I have no doubt that Sanjay Gupta is an excellent neurosurgeon. He trained at The University of Michigan which is highly ranked in both unbiased surveys as well as my own personal/professional opinions based on my time there. Top-notch place and top-notch training without a doubt.

But as the Surgeon General, he is not going to be doing neurosurgery. The duties of the Surgeon General are to oversee and advise the U.S. Public Health Service in determining health policies for the country.

An individual with a M.D. and M.P.H (Masters in Public Health) already working with either the National Institute of Health or Center for Disease Control would be far more qualified to fill this position, several of which I could recommend from my personal knowledge of their education, training and experience.

This is just an appointment of a "hollywood" face with absolutely no substance.
