For every dollar the government gives to someone who didn't earn it, they take away a dollar from someone who did.

This lesson is lost on two-thirds of Americans.

Americans Want Government to Spend for Jobs, Send Bill to Rich

Americans want their government to create jobs through spending on public works, investments in alternative energy or skills training for the jobless.

They also want the deficit to come down. And most are ready to hand the bill to the wealthy.

A Bloomberg National Poll conducted Dec. 3-7 shows two-thirds of Americans favor taxing the rich to reduce the deficit.

I do not consider myself "rich". After contributions to my 401k, I basically live paycheck to paycheck. However, since I make over $100,000 a year, the government considers me "rich".

I am more and more pessimistic about my economic future.

did you know that instead of spending 1 trillion dollars to stimulate the economy and auto bail outs,,,obama could have payed off 90 % of the 50,000 to 200,000 income homes morgs,,for 1/3 the amount,,,,now i don,t know about you guys, but if you want stimulate economy,pay off my morg...and I,LL GO AND BUY A NEW EVERYTHING,,,, the facts might not be exact but close,, it was on money line.

Last I heard the gubbermint thinks people over $250k/year are rich!

Half the time, I swear the governement has decided to pay off our mortgages via inflation... If the dollar is worth 50x less than it was a year ago, then our million dollar mortgages are only worth $20k. The only flaw is that we won't get a boost in our pay to get us back up to where we should be on the day to day consumables. Like the $100 McDonalds value meals that will be coming down the pipe after all this inflationary spending.

Don't get me wrong, the whole idea of this is pretty screwed up.
Somebody is trying to base their life on Robinhood.
It was a cute story as a kid, but, damn, look at the reality of it...

they forget the so called rich are mostly business owners with employees, and when its not worth our while to deal with the miserable pain in the ass having employees really is, noone will have a job. plus think about all the services people who do well use, lawn care, cleaners, daycare, boats cars, etc. that they will stop using or buying

I know I've said this before, but I sort of thought the whole point of states rather than federal government being empowered with the broad "policing" authority over their citizens was to take into account the impact of regional socio-economic differences between people in different parts of this country...

Yeah, so in some way I'm lucky that I don't make over 100K.
I'd be tap dancing to the bank if I was making over 100K.
But, As someone not making that, I certainly don't think that anyone over it should be paying anymore or any less.

hah... Im safe for 1 more year...with school and only working a couple hours a week..I'm gonna be lucky if I made 12k this year.. and thats gross not take home. I think I'm gonna be in shock when I finish school and start making semi ok money...

it doesn,t pay ,,if you make just a little over you might as well expect to give it to the government. you can,t make 120.000-180,000 you won,t keep much of that 20 -80 it,s either make 100,000 or get to 200,000 real fast like in the same year. sorry for the little man,,maybe we can all go on wellfair and see what they will do then,, we can get free cheese,,milk,,food stamps,,,power aid,,,rent aid,,,now in fla if you get food stamps you automaticly get a cell phone for an emergency,,go figure

Bingo we have a winner.Why do you think after Mon,Tue,when the market was down because the dollar was up.They announced new extended stimulus the dollar dropped and Wen and today market up.The deficit loans are now also worth less.
