Allstate Blows

We're heading out for the weekend so I figured I'd get my wife's car into the shop for some repair to some parking lot damage. When I went to the Allstate claims adjustment center (their insurer), the adjustor tells me "we'll provide an equivalent rental". So I show up today and the car is waiting. Dodge Avenger. The kid from Enterprise tells me we have to do a walk-around for damage. I start looking it over and he says. "no, not that one". The only other car there is a PT Cruiser. According to Allstate, the PT Cruiser is the equivalent to a BMW 5-series.

Driving it home, I now know why Chrysler is bankrupt. I was ready to park it and walk home in the rain.

I know I could make a deal out of it, but I'm just not in the mood to upset myself. But I'll F- Allstate every chance I get for a good, long time.

Both times we flew to Florida we got a PT. What a piece of !@#$. I work in the collision industry and let me tell you working on it is an even bigger piece of !@#$. And I can really see Chris' point about why Chrysler is in deep trouble. Almost all of their products are not well assembled and even harder to work on.

Dealing with any insurance co is a pain. They want top dollar for their product and want you to accept poverty level from them. I deal with this every day trying to get them to repair vehicles for a customer (the owner) not the insurance co (the payer) properly and with acceptable times for repairs and parts that actually look like they belong on the car not some aftermarket crap I have to modify to make fit.

I could go on and on about all of this but I hope it works out for you in the end.

Call them and tell that you would like your premium to be the same for your bimmer as it would be for a PT.
:26:

And yes, the PT is the biggest piece of sht on the road.

My daily driver is an Excursion. The PT is a shock.

I always take my cars to the same guy. He's already spoken to the adjuster this morning and told him I've authorized the full and thorough repair of the car regardless of what the insurer authorizes. He's also told them that I'm a relentless priick when screwed with and my two favorite words are "bad faith".

I'd love to see you stuffed up in a PT!!

I picture Bubba Smith in Police Academy when he rips the front seat out and drives from the rear (sans the tan of course and little bit blockier head)

Obama salutes you. Twice the fuel economy.

The Griswalds go for a weekend road trip.

That was probably not an Allstate call. Usually it is Enterprise that is doing the fu(king. Those auto policies usually have a dollar limit for the max they can pay for a rental. All prices on rental cars are negotiable on their end. They just didn't want to give you a good car. You should check the bill and see how much Enterprise is charging Allstate for that POS. I bet it is more than they would charge you if you walked off the street and rented it yourself.

One thing I have noticed about rentals lately is that they are getting a lot more use out of them. A few years ago you could go buy 5-8000 mile cars that came out of a rental fleet for pennies on the dollar. Now those same cars are running out to 20-25000 mile before the fleets let them go.

here is how to handle that situation... you walk into enterprise, they try to give you some micro econobox..you go out get in it, drive half way across the parking lot, stop, walk in and tell them... I can't drive this...I do NOT feel safe... they call the adjuster, adjuster says "well I cant' gaurentee we will pick up the difference.. take the upgrade anyways...when your truck is done, pick the job apart..call the adjuster..start telling him how bad the job is...work the rental difference in there...

.

So what I gather from this is that you were pizzed because the pt did not have "spinners" and a thumping stereo
