I couldn’t put the book down until I had read it in full. It’s hilariously funny in places and very poignant in others; Derek has written an account of his experiences in this race in such a way that you are standing there alongside him feeling the pain and sharing in the enjoyment.
Many of his criticisms are valid, we the organisers made mistakes as we are only human but after 24 years and two and half years of development the race happened and those taking part completed their dream and now have memories they will never forget.
