Whatever happened to that boat? I remember watching that boat and DOI battle it out on Speedvision all the time. It was my favorite boat, and I always cheered for it to win. Might not have been that long ago, but I remember that as being "the good ol days of racing" for me.

Wow thats a really good question and when i worked at Skater i think we built more then one boat for Matt Alcone & Jerry G .

In 1999 there were only (2) Open Class Race Boats racing. Alcone went to Europe and Drambuie was left uncontested. I miss the Super Cat days of 2000 - 2003. It was a cool boat though.

So I just spent the last little while doing some research. Seems like Owner/Driver Matt Alcone sort of dropped off the face of the planet. It said he raced a bit in Europe but that is about all I could find. Pics show there were two different boats though.

a few pics.....

Matt also had a hot wife, no pics though

He had planned to return and race Supercat 2002. I was told Jack Carmody's death played a part in his decision not to.

Im not sure of the network, but I definitly remember seeing racing on tv in 92 and it was around 93 when I was on it.....(speedvision)

Just curious , myself and two other ex Skater boys did the repairs on the old CARLOS N CHARLIES X-TREME after Jacks fatal accident and does anybody know where the old girl is today and what she looks like ?

Offshore racing was on TV (me included) on ESPN/ABC in the mid 80's, graduated to ESPN only a few years later, then to ESPN2, then it branched out to MSG, Prime, and Speedvision (later Speed), It then went to TNN, a few more lesser stops and finally to the Box Lunch and Cookies network before being banished completely to the web. If you were to graph this history the trajectory would be continuously downward.

Of course it is appearing weekly on Saturdays on CBS .............. if your TV has a "Wayback Machine" in it. The sponsor is the SBI Florida wetlands Real Estate development company.... :D
