43 GT Build

That's funny. It might be true though!!! lol!

I did some testing on those new plastic pushrods (made by Bic) that you ordered. They will have enough deflection so that when your valve hits the head this time it will have some give to it......

Now that is some funny $h!t. If your not breaking stuff your not having fun!!!

So, did those Bic pushrods ever show up with those rubbermaid rockers?

All kidding aside, how is the build coming? Any updated pics?

That there bic pushrod idea is ingenious you know.

The only update I have for the moment is the interior is in it, kind of. I have to put the hatches on it then I will post some pics.

Hey guys I thought I would post an update, too bad I don't have one really. Motors are pretty much together, or as far as I want to go for the moment. I think I made up my mind on drives. The reason I say think, is because if someone wants to give me an alternative, I will take it. After much research I am going to go with Arneson's. I believe they will offer me the most bang for the buck. I just have to same my pennies for a few more months, getting real close though. We all know they are not given away.

Well... I made a little progress as of late. I picked up a used set of Arneson ASD7's. I got a good price on them but they do need a bit of TLC. Since they are used I will be tearing them down and going through them completely. I now have to figure out where I need to place them on the transom to get the proper prop shaft height. I will post some pics in a few days.

Yes, I've talked to him probably too many times over the past year. I reached out to him on this used set specifically to help assist me in identifying a price point where it didn't exceed a new set. I sent him a list of parts needed today.

Great. Can't wait to see it finished. Bet it runs hard for a fraction of some of the newer ones

I've been doing various research on several different things. One thing I did was discuss baseline prop info with BBlades. Based on preliminary calculations, the recommendation for props are Hering 35 pitch, 18* rake, 17 diameter. Calculations are based on the below info.

Estimated 1100HP (actually Dyno #'s TBD)
5800 max RPM
Arneson ASD7's- Drive ratio 1.56:1
Weight of boat 10,500lbs (keep in mind this is an older flat deck)
At an estimated 15% slip

From all the above info we came up with a top speed of about 110MPH. If I could hit that speed I would be tickled pink. Who knows actual speed until it hits the water. I think it’s pretty cool to see what the estimated speed versus what the real speed may be.

I would think you'd be at or under the 15% slip though, so you should be fairly accurate with your number.
