40 Skater makeover

The Skater is currently undergoing a comeplete updating, we just finished the carbon fiber cockpit upholstry, all new Livorsi gauges, gps, intercom. Just started what has become a huge project, we removed the rubrail and are capping it making the side completely smooth, now I know why MTI charges 24k for this option, will be the first pleasure done like this, we are also thinning the nose of the tunnel to help with aero, and will make a bustle extension to cover the exhaust and the 6's with the extenion boxes. We are also redesigning the canopy capsules to incorporate a full wrap windshield like the new 388. motors are being upgraded and bumped to 1200's, dry sumping the 6's and new Hering props, and Stelling big tubes. the entire hull is being touched up, smoothed and re painted. should be a cool updated 165mph rocket next spring. will update progress, will be long winter of work

Teague said Larry Kramer's boat he tested in Powerboat should run at least 160 if it hadn't been set up for high altitude(Lake Mead). Nonetheless, the acceleration numbers were off the charts for a big offshore cat with 39" props. With Teague 1200s it ran 154.3.

Time to plane 3.1sec
40-60 3.9 sec
40-70 6.1 sec
60-100 7.2 sec
0-100 15 sec(my guess)

latest updates, should be painting in a few weeks, windshield ordered

thanks guys. knew it would be alot of work, but working with resins, carbon, kevlar, sanding, grinding is just plain dirty work and expensive. I certainly have an appreciation for the hours to make a boat. I'm looking forward to the final outcome, thanks

update- body work coming along nicely, starting first primer coat.
