When Marcel Raveau left Long Island he left his emplyees behind. Two of them Bob D'argagnon and John Ives (Ivesovitch) started Eltro Boat Co. They built an amazing "non constant vee bottom" hull out of marine plywood. Some of these hulls are still in use today as the Fire island water taxi's, but others were very competitive race boats and won the Around Long Island marathon on two occasions. George Linder and I raced an 18 foot version in events like Havasu and The Milwaukee Chicago Milwaukee Mrathon. I won The Budweiser cup on Lake Hopatcong in a three hour marathon as well. This design was the primary influence in the later world renowned Challenger and Shadow 21' vee bottoms and influenced the sponson bottoms on our Shadow and Conquest Cats....The bottom line is that Marcel Raveau was the father of a lot more successful hulls than he ever imagined.....Little known facts for ya...
