Can't really say anything that hasn't already been said so all I can say is Wow !!! I'm in love !!! :drool5::drool5:

I will add that I have always loved the lines of the 36's with their flat decks that perfectly flow down into the flat gunnels.. I was just talking about this yesterday with a friend about how thats one of my favorite features of the Saber, it always reminds me of the classic flat deck cigs.

Thank guys for all the kind words. Sorry I haven't chimmed in sooner, I will post some before and more of the cig as it is now pics soon. Will need someone to help with this. Redoing the cig for the last year easy, post pics, now this is going to be a project.... What made the 35'with the 8 foot beam such a superior hull over the 9' 6" hull ? The width at the chine area seems like it would be the same, as the 36 hull gets its beam from the flared out concave topsides as opposed to the slab sided convex topsides of the 35.

Is that a Top Gun flatdeck? There is a 1980 39' Squadron XXII with a similar hull shape. Look back at Charlie McCarthy's post...

The way to make a deep vee go faster is to get as much of the boat out of the water as you can.....hence the benefit of trimming the boat up.

The 35 actually had a design feature at the rear of the bottom that produced that lift at speed....therefore you didn't use as much HP to get the boat going. The 36 was perfectly straight all the way to the transom and you had to trim to get it up.

Richie Powers was the first to discover this feature and after his first water test of the boat, he came back and told Don...."This boat is Awesome." Don used that Awesome as the name of one of the 35 models....the other was the Mistress.

If you look at the brochure photos, you'll see that example has the later-style deck. The gunwhales are narrower and the windshield extends backwards and ties into the engine hatch surround.

You get a wider cockpit, but it loses that old-school look. The original 36 carried alot of the Magnum design influences.

I just started a rehab on my 79 33' cig and was thinking about keeping all the teak but after seeing the dash on your boat ,i am blown away with the beatiful job you did.
