1080p vs 1080i vs 480p

Thanks for the great onfo Billr. The problem I have is the only thing around where I live is big box stores. None of the little guys carry tv's any more. They could not compete on price.

i really wish there was a good guide to all the different names and numbers i realize its all most impossable as the companys are just dumping so many models (just the samsung 5 series has 15 models) then the 6series 7,8 9 there must be 100 different models most numbers do not mean that much but the 120hz does make a big difference .i learned the old fasioned way i just keep bringing them back, Sams has a 90 day policy and they said they would extend it sometimes up to a year but its a pain in the A-- boxing them back up but worth it in the long run.... what was by far the worst ? the rca but it looked cool till you turned it on that is if it came on

Thanks all, but I have decided to do nothing.

My Mitsubishi only has one 1080i connection, and I am using it with my DirecTV HD/DVR box. It has two other component connections, but they are only 480p (progressive scan DVD), so I will wait on a Blu-ray purchase.

I don't want to go buy a new 1080p HDTV set just so I can watch Blu-ray! :p
