That is a really good idea.

The offset power steering pully is a great idea. Unfortunately there is only 1/4 inch between the existing pully and the closest point on the pump. Diameter would have to change a lot to clear it. Then it would change the speed of the pump.

If the bung was band sawed off and welded closed, and I made a 1/4 inch spacer to go behind every bracket bolt and made a 1/4 inch spacer for the water pump and drive pulleys, that would move everything out 1/4 inch and I think that would be enough. Surely there is a better way than all of...

Finally...In the water.... Just put it in the water tonight for the first time. Everything checked out OK, transmission, drive, engine maintained 180/190 degrees throughout some serious flogging. Now its time to get busy on rebuilding the seat bottoms and getting the interior back together...
