Merc never used a Ford 4 cyl, only V8's and that was in the 70's. OMC used the Ford 4 cyl with their Cobra drive. If it's a merc it is either the 3.7 or the GM 3.0.
Took me a year to get up to a buck an hour. Started in a Merc outboard shop for .75 cents an hour in 1967. The shop rebuilt several powerheads and lowerunits a week, so cleaning gaskets and eventually disassembling lower units was all I got to do. Ended up staying with that shop into the 80's...
Not always Bill. I have had problems where it would work but not properly. I have also noticed a delay with the OEM controller. The aftermarket controller doesn't have that delay.
Depends on the actuator on the trailer. Mine works with some trailers but I bought a Draw Tite controller that works with all brands. My in dash unit also kept flashing trailer disconnected when I hit the brakes.
I was running 10 ply 15" Carlisles on my tri axle, couldn't understand why everyone had horrow stories about them. I blew out 3 in the last 2 years, no real reason and no warranty. I went to Denmans and haven't had any problems with them. I do 10 to 15 NJ or NY to Flordia runs a year, lots of...
It has nothing to do with the Bible Belt or Good Friday. Any holiday major cities restrict oversize loads from around noon on Friday until noon on Monday or Tuesday. Try the Northeast, New York you're done driving at 3pm every Friday. Virginia restricts the beltways from 3pm until 6pm daily...
Thee Carolina's have blankets, as do Georgia and Flordia. North Carolina you don't need a permit under 10'. MD, DE you can put money in escrow with them and just order permits online as you need them. Jersey you buy a book of 10 permits for 100.00. NY and above go with the permit service, they...
When I was at the Mercruiser School in PA they had about 20 of them sitting on racks. Not sure what they were doing with them. I've used them with good results. It just sucks they came in and took the rebuilding away from us, I used to get more money to rebuild an alpha lower than they sell an...
Should be better than the old one. It's sealed and you shouldn't get water in it anyhow. People tend to overgrease things so I think it's better they are going to greaseless bearings. Now we need greaseless bearing buddies for people who think you should grease your hubs every time you use your...
If you got over 100,000 miles on the originals, why wouldn't you just buy OEM? Unless it doesn't stop good. I changed the pads on my F250 at 100,000 miles and they still could have gone another 50,000. The rotors all looked good too. I just bought new pads from Ford and they lasted until the...
The problem with Uship is they allow anyone to bid on transporting your boat. It's up to you to check out their DOT authority and insurance. Most legit guys stay clear because you can't compete with the illegals. I try to stick with boats needing oversize permits, this weeds them out. Would like...
