    High X Dim.

Tinkerer, Our experience is with a 30' Scarab so it may vary significantly with your 34'. In the mid-90's we converted from TRS & Mirage props to Stellings Ext boxes, Bravo Drives and Mirage Props. The engines were side by side and set up so the prop shafts were raised to about 5.5" below the...

    KE pan vs dry sump

We use the 14 qt KE cast pan with a Peterson wet sump oil pump. The benefits of any dry sump oil system are that you will likely have less oil interference with the crank and you you can also rig the dry sump setup to create vacuum. The vacuum will give you a cleaner bilge and a few HP. The...

    Blower carb runnin lean

Bert, Here is a form similar to the one we tape to our dash to keep score at the various RPM's and of on the changes made between settings. It is real easy to lose track. You can probably set this form up better for blowers, but this might give you some ideas. Ben

    Lets talk nose cones

Even with the IMCO lowers that are a significant hydrodynamic upgrade to the Bravo lower, the MPH benefits show at 90+ MPH. Our experience with a low factor X and nose cones in the 80 MPH range was also zero increase in MPH. The nose cones also didn't look that great for long as the epoxy...

Crane ignition box and msd distributor

I will be looking closer when we set the timing than we might have before your post. We are also using the Crane LX-92 coils.

Crane ignition box and msd distributor

Just re-read the installation directions. Did you notice the connections are different for the Merc distributor (hall effect type) vs a a MSD (magnetic PU type) distributor? Also, maybe a trying a different advance curve might make a difference.

Crane ignition box and msd distributor

No, but you are scaring me. This winter we switched to the Crane boxes and are using locked-out non-marine MSD distributors with dual pick-ups (not going to the second PU). I haven't started the engines yet.
