I grew up in Knoxville, and most of my childhood family is there.

Is there a "party cove" near Knoxville? Sometime this summer I want to haul my Cigarette boat to Knoxville and show my family my boating lifestyle.

Thanks! :sifone:

Vol Navy on the river

But there are plenty of houseboats that cove out and make their own party. I left TN in 2004 so things may have changed. I did my boating on Watts Bar and primarily Norris. Watts Bar has a type of party cove but I will be damned if I can remember how to get to it....

reading my post I wasnt much help....

There is a nice cove directly across the lake from Cherokee Dam. all pasture land and grassy hills, the horses and other livestock come down to the water to drink. usually quite a few party barges anchored back in there. an excellant swiming hole. Theres a marina with gas and a restaraunt about 2 miles down the lake.

The last thing you need to do is show your family "your lifestyle"!! :26:

Ha Ha! No one else in my childhood family has owned a boat. I am on my fifth boat. I want to show them the fun I have, so I want to take them for a ride in a Cigarette boat and raftup in a party cove. :D

I think I would rather go to Norris or Fort Loudon. Is there a "party cove" on one of those lakes?

TVA Lakes

not on Norris. Loudon has a few but no clue where.

Fourth of July on Norris, Malibu boats has a huge party at one of the bridges where a bunch of people bridge jump and a ton of boats tie up. Thats the only place I have been where a bunch of peeps coved out.

Norris has a few real nice restaurants and marinas. Stardust, Shanghai and Seqouyah.

Yep. I grew up in Knoxville, and I have been on Norris many many times. However, we always were water skiing and never did a "raft up".

Clay just haul em all north a Lil further & take them to cumberland, almost Always somethin goin on there especially on the holidays

Make it a week. We can show you a few in the Nashville area then haul ass up to cumberland for the boat races. THAT one is huge. Almost like LOTO. We'll try not to send you home disappointed!

I have been on Cumberland. Greak lake! "76 falls" is a nice raftup area.

However, this needs to be a "day trip" Cumberland is just too far away.

Clay. I was born and raised in Knoxville. Graduated from Central High School in 1967. I spent many hours on Norris as a kid.

I've been to the bridge at Lake Norris the last 3 fourth of julys. It's more family orientated, definately a lot of malibu's. The bar at Stardust marina usually has bands during the day, and they're one of the only resturants on the lake that serves alcohol. Deerfield resort has a cool Cabana bar as well.

I graduated from Central HS in 1976. :26:
I grew up in the Smithwood area. My father was pastor @ Smithwood Baptist until 1970. We lived on Kesterwood Dr. Did you know the Cooper brothers that had a Corvette and jet boat shop on out past the park on the left on the highway to Halls and Norris Lake?

Clay,
I moved to Knox last year, but do most my boating on Cumberland. The largest party cove I've seen in Knoxville is called Prater Flatts (sp?). I'm guessing its not going to be much compared to the parties in TX, but the few times I had my boat at Prater the party was pretty good. Lots of large cruisers and ski boats. We cruised through Aquapalooza last year and people looked at our boat similiar to the way everyone on here would look at a 46 OL w/ 1075's.
There is a pretty good poker run in July (TN River Rally), that would be a great opp to give the family a taste of the lifestyle. Let me know if your interested in more details. I'm pretty sure you would qualify for longest tow.

been out on a houseboat for the football games. dont remember much of it though. It was a blast. I am not sure of that ramp but there is one other one close to that one that I put in at a few times. I cannot remmeber the name for the life of me though.

Boat ramp

Does anyone know about the The Cove at Concord Park on Northshore Dr on Loudon Lake? Can I use the boat ramp at the Navy Station just south of the bridge on Alcoa Hwy?

Searay has one of their aquapalooza events there in late July.

There are two ramps right by the dam in Loudon. I put my 38 in there and that is where everyone launches for the poker run. There is another ramp up Tellico lake half way that I use also. It is nice and quiet and a dock there also. That ramp is the best one I feel because it at the right angle going in for my 38. Not steep but a nice gradual decent works great for deep V's. the party cove is halfway up the river to Knoxville on the right handside. You have to go back in this cove and then bear left to get to it. I would ask the local's for sure of its location.
Try and hit it in July for the poker run (July 14-16th). The World Famous Blondes Preferred boat will be there with all its blondes on board. Hope to see you then.
