any boats out there WITHOUT a Mercury product on them?

Pat
I am not a Kool Aid drinker believe it or not......but yes Mercury makes a lot of money off of performance boating, but they also do the most to support it. Evolution is a catch 22 in our sport. I think the world of your innovations and the ideas behind them, as well as the amount of work to actually see your projects through. I personally respect anyone that does there homework and gets it done no matter how big or small. I just don't understand how you continue to bash the bigger guys that are out there competing. Get your products on a new extreme class boat or more P1 stuff.......we all know it's good stuff but why aren't more people using it? Do you guys want your products to be more main stream production????

Ryan, please don't be misled and state that Merc is there to support the racers for FREE.

They charge for every part that they sell at the races, it is not a charity case for them, rather it is a profit center.

If everyone was allowed in the races there would be more support from others as well.

Rik you have a copy of that video if the customer with 1000s in that 38 with Asd 7s? Stecz wants it and I cant find it.

Tank, Thanks for sending me that roll of film soooo long ago, funny how people still think that pic is a fake.

Pat, that was a looooooong time ago!

I saw the other Extreme that is owned by a guy somewhere in the OC, in Havasu last year. Neat looking boat but not as nice looking as yours.

AWESOME pic of it running at sunset in this months powerboat mag at the trials too!

Rik / Pat
I respect everyone at the races and every company that helps to make racing better. Companies like your that innovate are awesome and do a lot to advance our sport. I am no fool (really) I know Mercury is the to make money, but they are also there to make sure everyone there is out racing not tied to the dock broke down. I too am envious of othe graphics companies that are larger than me or get more notice for what the do, but you won't here me tearing them down. EFX and I actually work together on projects. Arneson and Weismann have been around along time. Most everyone knows the parts are out there. A lot of teams choose Mercury because they are there to support it and have the ability to back there products up. You and Pat should put more effort into racing if that what you would like. Get a support trailer together, help sponsors some races & teams, send some technicians to the races and get your stuff back out there......what can you guys do for outboards?

I bet if more people had Weismann products on their boats Pat would rig up a support trailer, and with the new P1 rules in OSS he and Rik might need to do that soon. Maybe they could do it together in one rig to cut costs.

Tank, Thanks for the heads up on the photo, You are right it is a hot shot.:sifone:

I met the guys (white Ettore) at Salton Sea and he will be coming to play in P1 this season with AVR, Second Chance, Eliminator, and platinum that I know of so far. Should be fun. Bring a cig.

By the way, I sold the extra set I had in the garage. (Sorry!)

...You mean with silver trim tabs? :sifone:

Nice rig. Big power, right? Where the he!! are the tailpipes on that thing, anyway?

The problem is that we do lots of raftup/wading get-togethers, using the swim platform as a bar and I don't carry an extensive suture set onboard!

We are finding that Evinrude really makes a great product and they are much better with their two stroke as far as the enviornment is concerned.

I have been a Merc guy from way back.....I asked them why I should consider an Evinrude for my customers. They said, no break in, just run it for 3 years and then bring it back....so far so good.

They have a warranty claim percentage that is equal to the auto industry...now they are trying to get one equal to the electronic industry...they really know small engine technology.

PS They also own Lear Jet....so they know something abut speed too.
What Evinrude Dealer are you getting your outboards through?

I have propeller guards and they give way more protection than even your Volvo's. Not to mention the speed increase.

Charlie,
Here's comes the E-Tec-Yamaha-Optimax deal all over again BUT I will go for the E-Tec if that fateful day ever comes - Jeff

I am a long time Merc guy. The Yamies and E tecs are nice enough in a standard application. I am curious how well the will they stand up in a raised and surfacing situation. Things like gear cases and swivel shafts and engine mounts.

I'll grant you the speed increase, no problem. I'm more concerned about hitting my shins on the BACK of the props, not falling on top of them.... :ack2: Anyway - Love the DPX drives: Great control, and have held up to my 600 hp very well for eight seasons.

Love your stuff - Keep up the good work.

The Konrads bolt up to the original TRS transom plates, correct? Does Konrad offer their own transom plate yet?

Yes, we've always had our own transom assemblies.

Here's a shot of mine, the only Merc parts are the trans tailstocks and trim indicator panel :sifone: ....oh and Thunderbolt IV ignition
