I do not believe that APBA's decision to let RWO run a couple races with APBA sanctioning affects OPA/P1 in any way other than allowing RWO to run all APBA classes. No way any boats that were planning on doing the other races change their plans because of APBA affiliation.
It does surprise me, barely, that some are saying the points from those races count towards the 6 Race series of OPA/P1. They do not count, period.
It does help RWO a bit because they actually don't have the open cockpit, or GPS classes, in their plan. So now the GPS boats, and other open boats, can race as long as they meet APBA class rules.
And I believe Fort Meyers and Englewood will have more boats than Key West, but we will see.
