What's your realistic IDEAL high speed?

Depends on the boat. I've been 156. That will wake you up.

I think I'm with you on this one Otis. 65 w/ a couple so fla hookers bringing me drinks while I watch some live porn on the sunpad between the other pieces of deck jewelry.

Hey, what can I say. good filthy minds think alike

Comfortable speed is relative to the boat. I have been scared to death in a 21 Skater with twin outboards at any speed over 70 mph. It runs about 120.
I actually had a guy fall alsleep on a long run in a Poker Run in my MTI at 125 mph. Not from drinking but the boat is just so calming and stable at high speeds.

There are not many 21 Skaters with twins. I was lucky to ride in one. I wonder if it the same boat. It was sold from Jersey in the mid'90's to someone in the mid west. His name was Walter L. It was silly fast. I tested it at 119 just prior to the sale.

It dosen't matter! After a few days what ever speed your boat can go is not fast enough. I remember when I got my 35 Motion and it went 105 I was nervous the first couple of times out. I am still always looking to go faster. Even now I'm thinking of changing my gear ratio to mainly raise my cruise speed but wouldn't mind raising my top speed as well.

To what from what?

I just want to run 10-15 mph faster than the average guy so I can pull away from them, thats mostly cause I dont enjoy running next to boats I dont know. For me the magic number would be around 85, I can do it with my new mills.

2,533 mph...

The 80 Atlantica would fit the :26:"Bill".

That being said my current realistic speed is probably just over 11 mph w/ these sweet new Nikes I'm runn'n. Maybe a little faster if I get some lighter shoestrings and slap a mercury logo on the back of them...

Try putting a beak on them.
I hear that also works.
Maybe some Dr. Scholls inserts too.
:leaving:

The question is relative to the boat.
Mine, 24 Pantera, low freeboard, 7' beam (about 6'6" at the transom)...
I think mid to upper 70's is about all the more I'd want to do in it.
I think Ironman had it in the low eighties at one time, and that just sounds a little scary to me in this boat.

I just want to run in water that is a little bit rougher than the average guy can run in. I will never see 80s without blowers but I should be able to do low 70s with 500+hp bbcs. (28 brave) Making the re-power decisions now for the upcoming season.

i would like to top 100 with full fuel and full boat. cruise around 70. i would be happy with that.

What do you think is realistically the fastest that you would like your boat to go, that you would actually use, if money was no object? I think for me the realistic high speed is somewhere in the 90-low 100mph mark. To me for running where I normally run (pacific ocean) I think about 90 is a good safe speed. I also wonder how many people have big V's and Cats that could run 150+ actually use that kind of speed or if it's just to say, "I can go...."

Now I have never been in a big cat or V (40'+) or anything like that and if I had my answer might change but for now, this is my answer. What's your highest realistic speed?

I'm just under 90 now in my 38 Fountain and would like for it to do 100+. But what is the fastest that I would want to go in a Vee? I took a test ride in a Donzi ZRC and went slightly over 100 and that felt pretty cool. The top speed of that ZRC or a 38 Fountain with 700's is about 110 - 115mph and right now that is about as fast as I would want to go, especially with my wife on board acting as a human governor.

But I'd probably be like everyone else and want more, but for now about 110 seems fast enough for me in any kind of boat.

I have a 1963 13' Boston Whaler with a 25hp Mercury and I am not sure how fast it runs. But, If I were to own another boat, it would be a 24' Speedboat with a single i/o engine setup and would run 70mph.

I used to want to go 100+ on flat days. However, we rarely see that and get the snot beat out of us at 50 often enough. Plus, now with 2 3 year olds on board, we don't go as fast as we once did. I'd rather have flat water everyday, was that the question? :-)

I would love a boat that would go 150 plus and cruise in the 120mph range at 4000rpm or so.

Preferably in a canopy boat with a 4 or 5 seat cockpit.

But I would also love to have a open top 41 Apache that would run 100 for those days when I am feeling like having some fun.

I compare it to having a 67 427 Tripower Vette and a new ZR1. Depending on the day.
