Homeless woman punches stranger on Duval Street
KEY WEST — A homeless woman accused of walking up to a stranger and hitting him several times in the face Thursday night on Duval Street was arrested, according to a police incident report.

The 36-year-old woman was charged with misdemeanor battery.

Groin-kick game investigated
KEY WEST — A homeless man told police another homeless man kicked him in the groin and now he is unable to walk well, but the suspect said they were only playing a game, according to an incident report.

There were no arrests as the responding officer listed insufficient probable cause and no witnesses.
 
You guys in the Keys may have to up your game. Hasn't there been two thieves eaten by alligators while hiding from the police in the last week or so?

• Two suspects, who stole a $40 bottle of Gray Goose vodka from Baby Cheapees, 508 Fleming St., at 6:34 p.m. Friday, remain at large.

• A 50-year-old homeless man, who yelled and threw money at a Walgreen’s cashier at 527 Duval St. Saturday night before getting into an argument with witnesses while waving a knife, was arrested.

• A “rare European bicycle,” purportedly worth $1,300, was reported stolen Friday on the 500 block of Petronia Street.

• A 51-year-old drunk Key West man warned by police for riding his bicycle the wrong way on a one-way street and for not having lights, was arrested at 10 p.m. Friday after the same officer saw him riding it a short time later. He was also arrested for cocaine possession.

• A 66-year-old West Virginia man was arrested early Friday morning on Fleming Street after hitting his girlfriend and throwing her clothes on the curb.

• A Key West man reported Saturday that an unknown person had opened a Sprint account in his name and that he now owes a bill of nearly $5,000 due to the illegal activity.

• A 61-year-old homeless man told an officer he would “cut his head off,” that he “knew karate” as well as that there would be “hell to pay” for his detainment was arrested at 12 a.m. Saturday during a trespassing investigation at the Circle K at the corner of Kennedy Drive and North Roosevelt Boulevard.

• A 21-year-old homeless man was arrested while trying to steal a pair of boots from Kmart Saturday.
 
• Police arrested a 58-year-old Vermont man who was drinking on Duval Street Saturday night after they warned him just moments prior of the open container law. The man defecated himself while police were speaking to him during the second encounter. He was wrapped in plastic and taken to jail. An officer bleached and used a hose to rinse off the sidewalk.

• A 58-year-old Key West man who fell and hit his head on the sidewalk on the 600 block of Front Street at 5:15 p.m. Saturday told police he fell “somewhere down yonder,” before he was taken to Lower Keys Medical Center for evaluations.

• A bicyclist with a bloody nose told police Saturday night that he was attacked by men in a white Lexus who had been yelling at him while he was on his bike on White Street. One of the people in the Lexus said the bicyclist hit the car first. There were no reported arrests.

• Two men were arrested on Fifth Street Saturday night after a fight in which one man was armed with a billiard cue and the other with a machete. Neither man was seriously injured. The argument was over where a truck was parked.

• A 50-year-old homeless man urinating near some dumpsters by a New Town hotel on Cow Key Channel whose private parts “were clearly visible to all of the drivers going by on U.S. 1” was arrested Sunday afternoon.

Report: Toilet paper request leads to fight
TAVERNIER — An 18-year-old accused of fighting with his grandfather over who should get toilet paper for another family member in the bathroom was arrested Wednesday, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The teenager was charged with battery on a person 65 or older.
 
Man says chicken costume plucked by thieves near bar
KEY WEST — A man claimed his chicken costume as well as his bicycle were stolen early Wednesday morning near an Old Town bar, according to a police incident report.

The officer described the suspect seen in security video footage as a white man wearing a dark-colored long sleeved T-shirt and white shorts with short, dark hair covered by a white baseball hat.

This is hardly the way to start a new year: A Key West man crashed a motorcycle into a plane on a runway at Key West International Airport early Friday, the Florida Highway Patrol says.

Troopers say about 1:35 a.m., Fred Cabanas Jr., 28, was riding an Indian Scout on the runway when he lost control and struck a parked C560, a small jet. He was taken to Lower Keys Medical Center and ticketed for careless driving.

Cabanas is the son of the late Fred Cabanas, a Key West stunt pilot who died in a plane crash in 2013 near Cozumel, Mexico. A passenger also died.
 
A member of the band the Backstreet Boys has been arrested in Key West on a battery charge, Monroe County arrest records show.

Nick Carter, whose full name is listed as Nickolas Gene Carter, was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday at 400 Front Street in Key West, the records show. Carter, 35, is facing one misdemeanor count of battery.

400 Front Street is the listed address for the popular Hog's Breath Saloon.



On the arrest sheet, Carter's occupation is listed as "singer."

The online celebrity gossip site, TMZ, reported that Carter was taken into custody after being involved "in some kind of scuffle inside the bar."
