Dumb computer question

I run Spybot and Ad-Aware and as Clay so eloquintly put it,,,,THEIR FREE>>>>>>>

If you want to stay with free, I'd add AVG. Spybot and Ad-Aware are kind of redundant in what they do. AVG will better watch for viruses.

I run Norton 360 for the last year plus. Got sick of fighting McAfee. I still download Ad-Aware and AVG once a month and scan completely. You'd be surprised what is still there.

While they both do the same thing, one will catch spyware that the other misses. It doesn't take that much longer to run them both.

if you have comcast , they supply mcaffee free of charge. If not you definitely need some type of protection

Time warner road runner customers can get the CA Internet security suite for free for as long as they are RR customers. Does need some tweaking to work efficiently though

I just use the Windows firewall along with Avast free download for years. Everything works fine.

I share a printer connected to a desktop pc with a couple laptops and windows firewall causes issues with that. Been using the CA firewall provided by TimeWarner, but that now seems to be causing some problems with SOS for me.

I tried the CA firewall and it really slowed stuff down for me.

Here's a tip:

Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Security Center -> Other Security Settings

Turn off User Account Control and the pop up asking if you want to continue will stop
