One of the most obvious things one notices at the Miami Boat Show this year is the increase in the Performance Fishing Center Console offerings has continued to increase. They are everywhere. Bigger, more powerful, and almost every manufacturer has multiple offerings.

A couple pics of the power now offered from the Cigarette display.

I was chatting with Bill yesterday and he took a ride on the Nor-Tech demo boat with Quad 400 Mercury's. Nor-Tech said they've hit 97 mph with it, he said it went to 89 in a heartbeat. They did not try to peak out the top end when he was aboard.

One of these days one of the companies is going to make an offshore performance themed gofast boat, and its going to be sweet!! No disco lights, no tuck and roll ocelot leather interior, no touch sensitive flat screen command centers...... Just a really well built boat with big stringers, reliable power and drives and nothing to fall off or rattle. Oh and a paint job that doesnt bear the influences of a Timothy Leary inspired spectral vomit fest. Thats going to be cool!!!

AMG Brings a Car to the Boat Show With GT S and Matching Cigarette

Mercedes-AMG this week reprised its slightly strange tradition of showing off customized land-based vehicles at the Miami International Boat Show, parking a garishly black-and-yellow GT S sport coupe in front of a matching Cigarette speedboat. No, you can’t tow the boat with the Benz. Quit asking.

In the wake (hah! That’s a boating joke, kid) of last year’s Benz-and-matching-boat duo, and 2013’s nuclear-glow-in-the-dark combo, Mercedes asked Cigarette Racing to create the most outrageously apt sea-faring pairing to go with the twin-turbo, 503-hp sportster. And this boat ain’t blowing smoke.

Cigarette Racing 50 Marauder GT SThe dinghy-half of the duo is the Cigarette Racing 50 Marauder GT S Concept, billed as the world’s most powerful production twin-engine performance boat, and hoo-boy does it earn it: Aft of the five-seat passenger compartment, the engine room houses twin Mercury Racing V-8 engines kicking out 1550 horses each.

And it’s not like those sixteen pistons have to contend with a lot of dead weight: Cigarette says it sliced nearly 1000 lbs from the boat’s dry weight, giving the 50-foot torpedo a claimed top speed of over 135 mph.

The bodacious boat’s specs make the Mercedes-AMG GT S’s achievements seem like a drop in the bucket: The coupe only has one engine, for Pete’s sake, though it does hurdle to a terminal velocity of 193 mph. It also comes in at a rather reasonable $130,000—reasonable, at least, compared to the $1.2 million price tag for the one-off Cigarette.

As for towing the 13,200-pound boat? For that you’re gonna need a truck.

Spent some time at the Sonic display chatting with Tony. He had three boats there, sold all three at the show. The 42 Vee with full staggered 1100 Mercs seemed to be very reasonably priced at $450,000. It should be a 110 MPH boat with full amenities.

In typical I-blurr fashion!!!! It's a posed shot, and you cant get it right, please put the camera down and move away!
