Weren't there two Super Brut's? The first one which was the old Ajac Hawk at 37'6" and then they built a 48 or something? I'll go digging to see if I can find it...

I think Craigs next Racing adventure after the 37'6 was the 39' with the name Cigarette Hawk. I can't think of another Super Brut.

Some useless information : Al Segrini who raced the "Super Brut" Funny Car was Craig Barries best friend. The Fabrege' Brand is in Barries family, These Boating Buisness endevors are things he wants to do, not what he has to do (if you know what I mean )

The new A.P.B.A. Offshore Class 1 is the superboat category with the boats ranging from 45 to 50 feet in length overall and having unlimited power. Offshore Class 2 conforms to the international requirements for open boats. Here the boats are 30 to 50 feet in length with engines limited in size to 1,000 cubic inches.

Jerry Jacoby of Old Westbury, L.I., the former world and national champion, currently is building a 48-foot Cigarette called Super Brut to compete in the superboat class.

''I didn't want the superboats,'' Jacoby said. ''But they're here, and that's where the action is now. He said his new boat would be powered by three 750-horsepower Hawk engines giving Super Brut speeds of more than 100 miles an hour.

I don't think that ever happened. I worked on that street for years and don't recall seeing one. Or any 48' Cig for that matter.

I agree. Larry should know if it's the same boat. From all of my digging, I cannot find where there was a second one made in the 78-79-80 timeframe that was a 37 1/2.
