Best Deep VEE boat made today

It would be interesting to hear more about the Skater V's. How did the current design evolve? If I recall, there was some involvement with Fountain as well as Cigarette in some V bottom projects. Is the current version a clean slate design or is it a tuned up version of a Fountain or Cig?

Here's my very short version.

The Skater 39 was a clean slate design by Peter at Skater. It was to be built by BAja I believe, but something went wrong. Skater took over the mold and built the boat.

As for the collaboration with the other builders. The Fountain record boats and Cigarette record boats were all (I believe) built at Skater because people wanted to have a chance at living if they crashed the boats and Skater lamination was the best. The molds were Cigarette and Fountain designs, just the layups were done at Skater.

Don't kill me if I'm a bit off on this.:sifone:

I wish Rich would chime in here. He has made some spot on comments in the past regarding hull design, fabrication, speed, durability...etc.

Paul , we built Fountain's for many years along with some mod's being done to the molds and not to mention the mods on the molds we did for Cigarette which was a Michael Peters design adding step inserts to the 45 mold in June of 98 which in fact i have the original drawings or blue print of the inserts and body plan for the boat ,and lets not forget that the plug / mold that was built for Baja was made here ,and if memory serves me right it was my understanding that the boat was to be built by Douglas Marine / Skater using today's technology .

I'm digging, it looks like three to me so far, then this happened. I'll keep digging.

Mystic Helps New GTMM 39′ Hit The Water

GTMM 39 MYSTIC POWERBOATS Based off the 39-foot Dragon Powerboats molds, the new GTMM 39′ was constructed at Mystic Powerboats, and went through sufficient hull design modifications with help from John Cosker. Theodoli and company also focused on changing the cockpit design to make it more pleasure-boat friendly as the canopy-style Dragon was best suited for racing.

“We are completely thrilled to have the boat finished and dialed in,” said Giovanni Theodoli, speaking for himself and his business partner Scott Smith, formerly of Cigarette Racing and Magnum Marine. “She runs incredibly strong and incredibly smooth. People have been so impressed when they see her. It took a long time getting her there, but she’s so beautiful. I’m very happy with everything.”

“Running the boat is so exciting,” said Theodoli, who was born and raised in Miami. “When we first tested it, we were all surprised how quickly she leaps out of the water. You hit the sticks and bang she’s on plane in a matter of seconds. And the acceleration from 60 to 90 mph is in the blink of an eye

If you're talking the best high-speed performance Condo-Vee, I'd go with it or the Sunsation 43. The Sunsation also has amazing performance numbers. I believe it won two Powerboat Peformance Awards the first year. Only boat to ever do that I think. Wasn't it over 100 with 700 mercs?
